European sea bass

European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L., "sea bass" henceforth) is an important, highly valuable commercial species in Europe, both as aquaculture resource in the Mediterranean Sea and as a seasonal catch and trophy fish in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean.

This review aims to put together the most updated scientific knowledge on the species, in particular as regards aquaculture production and genetics of wild populations and hatchery stocks in Europe.

'At a glance' presents a brief overview whereas 'In depth information' provides a more detailed description of the distribution, biology, production and genetics of the species, with useful links to graphics, tables and others websites. The information is followed by an extensive list of references.
